The NERD program supports original basic research in the natural sciences and technical sciences, and the four researchers from resp. The Department of Physics and Astronomy and the Department of Chemistry receive a total of DKK 47.7 million.

The overall goal of the Novo Nordisk Foundation's NERD program is to support original basic research in the natural sciences and technical sciences, including - but not limited to - physics, chemistry, mathematics and computer science.

The application must describe how the outcome of the project has potential interdisciplinary applications in health, life science or sustainability.

The NERD projects span both far and wide, but they have in common that the grant recipients are both creative and ambitious.
