The winners of the Young Climate Scientists Awards 2022 have been chosen. Three young Hamburg talents convinced the scientific jury with their theses from various disciplines of climate research.
Meteorologist Katharina Holube and economics graduate Nikolai Surminski won the first prize together. Second place goes to Felix Schaumann, graduate of Integrated Climate Systems Science.
Patron of the prize is Katharina Fegebank, Hamburg's second mayor and senator for science, research, equality and districts: "Climate change is one of the most pressing challenges facing our society. Clever minds and innovative ideas are required here. I am therefore particularly pleased that the Young Climate Scientists Award in Hamburg has established itself as an interdisciplinary prize for young talent in climate research. We need young talents who want to help shape our future. My heartiest congratulations to the winners! You are making an important contribution with your research by finding creative solutions to limit global warming.”
