On Saturday, August 14, from 6.7 pm to 7.30 pm, Grete Arro (TU), Helen Sulg (EIC), Sander Ots (Comodule), Tiit Land (Rector of Tallinn University of Technology), Mario Kadastik (HM) will discuss the greening of the Estonian higher education system. The discussion will be chaired by Kaisa Hansen, Head of New Entrepreneurship at Tallinn University of Technology.
How could the Estonian higher education system "keep up with the times" and train experts and specialists with future skills? The issue is driven by the European Union's Green Agreement and Estonia's climate goals, according to which we must take serious steps to achieve climate neutrality by 2050. The investments to be made are promising and will hopefully lead to the greening of both industry and energy production.
In this context, we hope to create the necessary "jobs of the future". We can already see that companies are recruiting "green experts" for their teams. The question, however, is whether the current higher education system trains future makers with the necessary knowledge. Future trends show that developments in society are taking place at an increasingly rapid pace - knowledge is becoming obsolete at the same pace. As new "green winds" and technological developments require up-to-date learning (including lifelong and lifelong learning), the issue affects all sections of society.
The discussion can be heard at the Opinion Festival Education.
