The lack of candidates with adequate German language skills is hindering plans to train some 5,000 East African students as nurses in the country, in a scheme designed to help address Germany's healthcare worker shortage.The partnership between Koblenz University of Applied Sciences and Kenya’s Mount Kenya University, which piloted over 2023 and 2024, has slowed because few candidates meet the required language skills.
