Chemistry Olympiad in Switzerland for the first time in its 55th year

The International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) will take place at ETH Zurich from July 16th to 25th. Over 300 young participants from around 90 countries are expected. It is the first time that the competition takes place in Switzerland.

On July 16, around 350 talented young chemists from over 90 nations will arrive at ETH Zurich's Hönggerberg campus. After qualifying in national preliminary rounds, they now compete in theexternal siteInternational Chemistry Olympiad (IChO)call_madeagainst each other. The competition will definitely be a unique experience for all participants; for some it will even be their first trip abroad. The Swiss candidate Sabine Isabelle Neuhaus is also becoming nervous, but also looking forward to it: "I'm looking forward to being able to exchange ideas with like-minded people from other cultures and to show them Switzerland," says Neuhaus. She is one of 64 women taking part in the Olympics and one of four young talents representing Switzerland in the competition. Her teammates are: Vivian Michael Huber from Basel, Alex Martinetti from Lugano and Andrin Hauenstein from Uster. Each country delegation can send a team of a maximum of four young people under the age of 20.
