The first meeting, with physical presence, of the Rectors of the eight European Universities, from an equal number of European countries, which constitute the Alliance "European Technological University-EUt +", will be hosted by the Cyprus Technological University (TEPAK), in the framework of its actions and events " Limassol Week "from 20 to 24 September 2021.
TEPAK participates in this Alliance with seven other Universities from Germany, France, Latvia, Ireland, Bulgaria, Spain and Romania with the aim of creating the European University of Technology with a central pillar "Think human first" and with ultimate goal to become one of the "Universities of the Future".
"Our involvement in EUt + launches significant changes forward for our University and opens the way for international extroversion and much collaboration for our University", says the Rector of TEPAK, Professor Panagiotis Zafeiris, in a message to the university community Meeting of the Rectors.
During the "Limassol Week", the Governing Board of EUt + will meet in the presence of the Director General of the Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture of the European Commission, Mr. Themidas Christofidou.
The purpose of the session is the signing of the "Limassol Agreement", which provides, inter alia, the creation of an International Teams Coordination Office (ITCO) on each campus, the creation of the Erasmus EUt + Office and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for the creation of clusters of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Programs.
There will also be three public hearings taking place at the Rialto Theater in Limassol on 21, 23 and 24 September from 11:00 to 13:00.
The first public debate entitled "EUt +: A beacon of equal opportunities for all" will take place on September 21, with the participation of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ms. Annita Dimitriou, the Commissioner for Administration and Protection of Human Rights, Ms. Maria Stylianou- Lottidis, the Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs on Gender Mr. Josi Christodoulou, the Associate Professor in the Department of Agricultural Sciences, Biotechnology and Food Science of TEPAK, Dr. Dimitris Tsaltas and the student George Panagiotou. The discussion will be moderated by the Associate Professor at the Department of Nursing of TEPAK, Dr. Christiana Kouta.
The second discussion entitled "EUt +: Boosting European Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship" will be held on September 23, 2021, with the participation of the Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy Mr. Kyriakos Kokkinos, the Chief Scientist for Research and Innovation Mr. Nikos, the CEO of PwC Cyprus Mr. Eugenios Eugenios, the CEO of Theramir, Mr. Marianna Prokopi, the CEO of LearnWorlds Mr. Panos Siozos, the CEO of SignalGeneriX Metabos Mr. Tassos Koutos. Marius Ursache. The discussion will be moderated by the Professor of the Department of Public Communication of TEPAK Dr. Nikolas Tsapatsoulis and the Assistant Professor at the Department of Civil Engineering and Geoinformatics Engineers of TEPAK Dr. Stelios Giatros.
The third public debate entitled "EUt +: Designing the future of higher education in Europe" will be held on 24 September 2021, with the participation of the Director-General of the Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture of the European Commission, Mr. Themidas Christofidou , the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth Mr. Prodromos Prodromos, the Director of the Technological University of the French city of Troyes Mr. Pierre Koch and the Rector of TEPAK, Professor Panagiotis Zafeiris. The debate will be moderated by EUt Coordinator Timothee Toury.
As part of the "Limassol Week", on September 23, the International Teams Coordination Office (ITCO) will be inaugurated in the new teaching building "Drakos" by the Rectors of the Eight Universities and by the General Director of the General Directorate of Education, Youth, Sport and Culture of the European Commission, Mr. Themidas Christofidou.
Furthermore, the new corporate image of EUt + will be presented and relevant training will be provided on its implementation.
The events will be open only to those who hold a certificate of vaccination or disease from Covid-19 disease, according to the Health Protocol applied in TEPAK, based on the decision of the Senate on the operation of the University during the current semester, dated 24 August. 2021.
